Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.

-Proverbs 22:6 (NIV)
So whose children are we to train in the way they should go? How about all of the children that God has entrusted to our care–no matter how short that time may be?

Pictured is the first Pre-K graduating class at Construction Junction Child Care Center–three young ladies who were entrusted to our care. One child has been with us for over two years (since our home child care days). Another child was one of our first enrollees when we opened in January of this year. The other child started with us at the beginning of summer.

When Bobbi and I were doing foster care, people would ask us how we could love on a child as our own knowing that we would have to give him or her back. Our answer began with Proverbs 22:6. If we can train a child in the way he should go, if we can gain the opportunity to bring these children closer to the throne room of God, shouldn’t we? When Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these (Matthew 19:14),” was He talking about an opportunity like this. Three young ladies: one whose Mother is born-again and so we can augment what she is doing; and two whose parents are not-yet repentant, born-again Christians.

We can either hinder them from coming close to Jesus or help them? Are you helping or hindering?
